WLA
Remanufactured Engine Limited Warranty WLA warrants to the original purchaser that each engine
sold by WLA shall be free of defects in material and
workmanship under normal use and with periodical
maintenance as set forth by the original manufacturer
subject to the following terms and conditions. This
Limited Warranty is non-transferable. DEFINITIONS: -
Engine: As used in this warranty refers to
the remanufactured engine assembly (basic block,
cylinder head and internal components), or Short Block
(basic block, cylinder head and internal components,
excluding cylinder head) as supplied by WLA. -
Cylinder Head: As used in the warranty refers to the
manufactured cylinder head including those parts and
accessories as supplied by WLA. TERMS: -
STANDARD WARRANTY: This warranty shall exist
for three (3) years or unlimited miles whichever first
occurs. Warranty term begins on date of installation
or shipment, whichever first occurs. The Standard
Warranty applies to all WLA products with the
following exceptions: -
Short block applications: This warranty shall exist for six
(6) months or 6,000 miles whichever firs occurs on
passenger vehicles and light duty trucks up to ¾ ton
use. On vehicles 1 ton and over, a 30 day or 4,000
mile warranty is allowed. NO LABOR WARRANT ON SHORT
BLOCKS – PARTS REPLACEMENT ONLY. -
European diesel and rotary engines carry a warranty term of
twelve (12) months or 12,000 miles whichever occurs
first. -
Cylinder heads supplied separately carry a warranty term of
twelve (12) months or 12,000 miles whichever occurs
first. -
Trucks over 11,000 GVW (gross vehicle weight) carry a
warranty term of 12 months or 12,000 miles whichever
occurs first. -
Motorhomes: Class A or motorhomes over 11,000 GVW carry a
warranty term of 12 months. This warranty applies only
to engines sold by WLA, which are specially prepared
and designated for this use. NO LABOR WARRANTY. Please
be aware that only engines designed expressly for
large motorhomes should ever be used in such and
application. -
Marine: Engines cataloged and sold as marine engines are
specially prepared for this use and carry a warranty
term of twelve (12) months with a maximum replacement
liability of $300.00. Engines used in marine
applications are not cataloged carry a warranty term
of thirty (30) days with no provision for labor
claims. WLA does not recommend engines be used as
marine engines unless cataloged as such. -
Farm, lift trucks and industrial applications carry a
warranty term of 12 months with a maximum replacement
liability of $300.00 -
Product replaced under warranty: Product replaced under
warranty carries the remainder of the original
product’s warranty term. STANDARDS: Subject to the limitations listed herein. WLA, at its option,
shall repair or replace a product within the warranty
term after determination by WLA that the product is
defective. Your engine will, (at our sole discretion),
be repaired or replaced with a remanufactured engine,
if any internally lubricated part should fail or wear
out under normal operating condition. All products
(units sold, not vehicle) must be removed at your
expense and returned to WLA for inspection and
replacement or repair. Any labor reimbursement will be
determined upon receipt of product. Customer is
responsible for all shipping costs. Product not
returned to WLA will not be warranted. All repairs
and/or replacements covered by this warranty must be
authorized by WLA in writing. Unauthorized repairs or
repairs not done by WLA will not be paid or
reimbursed. LIMITATIONS: This warranty applies to products originally supplied by WLA.
This warranty does not apply to or include any of the
following: A – Any damages as a result of OVERHEATING LACK OF
LUBRICATION or CONTAMINATION B – Damage resulting from PRE-IGNITION or DETONATION. This
includes but is not limited to melted or broken
pistons, broken piston rings, damaged cylinder head,
leaking head gaskets, etc. For more information
regarding pre-ignition and detonation please contact
our customer service department. C- Repair or replacement required as a result of any accident
or misuse. D- Repair or replacement of any accessory or service item,
including specifically but not limited to: all
components of the cooling, fuel electrical and
ignition system in addition to all belts, hoses and
filters. E – Any product used for competition, racing or related
purposes F – Any product to which a device or accessory not
conforming to original manufacturer’s specifications
has been installed. G- Any product on which periodic maintenance services
required by the original manufacturer have not been
performed or which are not substantiated by written
receipts for said maintenance. H- Any damage due to camshaft failure if new filters have not
been installed. This applies to short blocks only. I – PARTS, KITS, AND PARTIAL ENGINE JOBS. No labor charges
or other items or expense or damages will be allowed
on these items. Parts will be replaced within thirty
(30) days of purchase under manufacturers warrant
providing evidence of failure and defective part is
returned transportation prepaid for our inspection. J – Removal and shipping of product to WLA. K – Broken crankshafts, block casting flaws or any defects
in casting LIMITED LIABILITY: WLA’s liability under this warranty is limited solely to
the repair or replacement of defective product. WLA
shall not be liable for any loss of income, special,
consequential or exemplary damages, including but not
limited to rental cars, towing fees or for any
service, parts,, or repairs, not expressly provided
for herein, relating to or arising directly or
indirectly from the WLA product LIMITED WARRANTY: This warranty is given in lieu of all other warranties,
expressed or implied, including any warranty of
merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose,
on the part of WLA or the dealer installing the
engine. No dealer nor any agent or employee thereof,
is authorized to extend or modify this warranty. LABOR PAYMENTS In the event that WLA gives express written authorized for
repairs, compensation shall be subject to the
following: WLA authorized repairs will be compensated at a rate not to
exceed 100% of the applicable flat rate schedule as
published by Chilton, Mitchell or motor repair
manuals. Hourly rates for all authorized labor claims
will be paid in accordance with original installation
rate, not to exceed $42.00 per flat rate hour not to
exceed replacement liability of $350.00. Do it
yourself repairs, and repair performed by unlicensed
repair facilities, will be paid at a rate not to
exceed $15.00 flat rate hour. No variations from the
above rates is authorized. Warranty labor is paid for
the 1st 12 months/12,000 miles whichever
occurs first, thereafter you are responsible for all
legal charges. All this warranty covers is the repair
or exchange of the engine. CLAIM PROCEDURE WHICH MUST BE FOLLOWED: (A)
A copy of the invoice must be presented, in legible condition
without any items erased or omitted, and (B)
A copy of proof of oil and filter change every 3,000 miles or
less is required by receipt from a facility authorized
to do oil/filter changes reflecting the date, mileage
and license number or VIN number of the vehicle in
which the engine was originally installed (C)
You are responsible, at you expense, to present the engine at
our facilities for this Warranty to be effective. This
warranty does not cover any towing or delivery
services for the engine in question or its repaired or
replaced unit. Any rental or loan car costs, any loss
of earnings, loss of income, emotional/psychological
distress or other damages ARBITRATION: “Any controversy or claim arising out of relating to this
contract, or the breach thereof shall be settled by
arbitration in Los Angeles, CA in accordance with the
Uniform Rules for Better Business Bureau Arbitration,
and the judgment upon the award rendered by the
Arbitrator(s) may be entered in any Los Angeles County
Court having jurisdiction thereof.” VENUE: This agreement shall be interpreted under the laws of
California. The parties agree the venue of enforcement
of the terms and conditions of this agreement shall be
in Los Angeles County, California. ADDITIONAL OWNER/USER OBLIGATIONS: -
Initial startup: Valves must be readjusted to
manufacturer’s specifications. Due to the various
component designs, cylinder head re-torque may or may
not be required in your particular application. Refer
to the shop manual for the proper procedure for your
engine type. If for any reason you are unsure what
action to take, please contact our customer service
department via our toll free number – 1-800-200-3644 -
First service 500 miles after installation: Oil and oil
filter must be changed, valves readjusted and cylinder
heads re-torqued (refer to initial startup
instructions). Failure to perform these basic
operations may result in a voided warranty.
Thereafter, change oil and oil filter every 3,000
miles. -
Be advised that said receipts required by this limited
warranty are specifically limited to garages, service
stations, auto dealerships, and quick service
lubrication services and must include date, mileage
and license or VIN number of the vehicle in which the
engine was originally installed in order for this
limited warranty to be valid and enforceable. Claims
that you changed the oil yourself, or had a friend to
do without above required receipts will automatically

All cylinder heads remanufactured by West L.A. Engine are warranted for a period of ONE YEAR OR 12,000 miles, whichever comes first, from the date of sale to the party who installs the remanufactured cylinder head. This is a Limited Warranty. It is not an unconditional warranty against all hazards or failures. It is limited only to the original purchaser and is not transferable. By purchasing this cylinder head it is understood by all parties that the customer accepts and agrees to comply with all terms and conditions of this limited warranty. This limited warranty is void regardless of time and mileage under the following conditions: 1.Improper installation and any damage resulting therefrom; 2.Installation not performed by certified professional mechanics: 3.Repairs, disassembly, alterations and/or modifications made to the cylinder head without prior authorization by a Cylinder Head King official; 4.Faulty related engine equipment including but not limited to the oiling system, cooling system, radiator, water pump, thermostat, fueling, etc.; 5.Improper operation of the cylinder head as evidenced by the heat tab being melted down or missing; 6.Any signs or evidence of tampering with the beat tab; 7.Damage caused by detonation or pre-ignition; 8.Use on high performance vehicle, race car, police vehicle, ambulance or off-road vehicle. This Limited Warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of the cylinder head by or with approval of West L.A.Engine only, No labor allowance is given, intended or implied. West L.A.Engine make no warranties, expressed or implied, other than warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose and all other obligations or liabilities on the part of West L.A.Engine that exist by law, and is not liable for any damages other than those provided by law. This warranty is limited in duration to the warranty period stated above and does not apply to normal maintenance or adjustments. Ibis limited warranty is exclusive and in lieu of all other warranties, whether oral or written, expressed or implied. Any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness is limited to the duration and remedies stated in this warranty. No distributor, dealer, reseller or installer of West L.A.Engine cylinder heads or any employee of West L.A.Engine, is authorized to change or modify any of the terms or conditions of this limited warranty, or make any other warranty statements binding on West L.A.Engine. The terms of this limited warranty constitutes the only agreement between the remanufacturer and the purchaser, and are in lieu of any other warranties. This limited warranty does not cover towing, oil, oil filter, anti-freeze, any incidental or consequential damages including, but not limited to, those from loss of time or use of vehicle. Any cylinder head with an alleged defect must be returned to the company that distributed the subject cylinder head on behalf of West L.A. Engine directly to West L.A.Engine for inspection unless otherwise approved by an official of the remanufacturer. It is understood by the purchaser that no warranty consideration will be given without return of the remanufacturer cylinder head in question. Any Questions? COVERAGE SECTION This Limited Warranty, effective from the date of installation is between the Remanufacturer (hereinafter referred to as We and/or Our) as stated in Warranty, and the Purchaser (hereinafter referred to as You and/or Your) as stated in Warranty. This Limited Warranty provides coverage only for the time and mileage, whichever occurs first, as stated in Warranty. You must maintain the engine in accordance with the requirements set forth by Us to keep this Limited Warranty in full force and effective. Warranty is valid only if vehicles returned to 0ur service department for adjustment, or if prior written approval is obtained. COVERED COMPONENTS Engine head(s) and engine block if damaged by the failure of an internally lubricated part. All internally lubricated parts, including pistons, pins and rings: connecting rods and hearings: crankshaft and main bearings; camshaft. followers and cam bearings; push rods, valve springs, guides, seats and lifters, rocker arms, shafts and bushings; timing gear, chain or belt , tensioners and retainers, and timing cover. Seals and gaskets installed be Remanufacturer. ROTARY ENGINES -Rotor chamber, eccentric shaft, main shaft bearing, rotor and all internally lubricated parts,In addition, coverage only extends to those parts for which we have charged and install as specified in Our Repair Order. Passenger cars, pickup trucks and vans (up to ½ ton) carry a 12month or 12000 miles warranty (whichever occurs first). Pickups, vans and trucks up to ¾ ton carry a 6 month or 6000 miles warranty, and one ton (and larger) 45 days or 2000 miles warranty, whichever occurs first. Accessories, which are listed on the reverse side, are covered only for parts and labor for the first 90 days or 4000 miles, whichever occurs first. SERVICE ADVISORY To insure full benefit from this Limited Warranty, the manufacturer's maintenance schedule related to the engine must be followed (except where specified under maintenance requirements listed in this warranty). Along with normal servicing, We recommend service inspections on radiator components, radiator hoses, fan, air conditioning and power steering belts. Damage resulting from those non-covered maintenance items will not be covered by this Limited Warranty, Please refer to the maintenance requirements below, MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS 1, You must, at your expense have the oil and filter changed at the first 500 miles or 30 days, whichever occurs first. 2.You must have the engine oil and filter changed every 3 months or 4000 miles from last service, 3.Keep a record of the maintenance performed, and keep receipts and/or work orders showing the date, mileage and service performed in order for warranty work to be honored. WHAT IS NOT COVERED Any engine warranty repair not first authorized by Engine Installation, Inc. in writing. Any loss caused by negligence, misuse ,abuse. Or from any other cause whatsoever, except as provided in this Limited Warranty, Any loss or expense if the odometer has been tampered with or altered, If odometer is not working at time of installation, a flat 3 month warranty will be given. If odometer is not working at any time during the warranty period. We must be notified in writing within 2 weeks and a flat 3 month warranty will be given (not to exceed original warranty). If we are not notified during the specified time, the warranty is voided. Any replacement costs for filters, fluids and seals and gaskets, except as provided in this Limited Warranty. Damage to covered parts by non-covered parts. Damage caused by the failure of cooling system hoses, connections, fittings and drive belts of the water pump: heater hoses and by-pass hoses. We are not responsible for any transmission problems not related to the installation of the remanufactured engine (as determined by a factory authorized dealer). Also, we are not responsible for any problems associated with fuel injection systems, turbo systems, computer ignition systems, electrical systems, or emissions control systems not related to the installation of the remanufactured engine (as determined by a factory authorized dealer). Warranties on engine an accessories are nontransferable from the original purchaser. Engine Installation, Inc. does not allow any rental car, towing, lodging, boarding or any down time, or any other kind of expenses. No warranty on high performance engines or modified engines (beyond factory specifications) or if not original engine parts and/or accessories. Engines which overheat due to cooling system failure are not covered under warranty. CORE REFUND POLICY In order to be eligible for a refund of the core deposit, core must be the same as engine purchased and must be returned within 15 days of delivery date (15 day grace period allowed). Core deposit will be refunded if complete core (block, crank, cam & heads) is rebuildable. Cores must be checked by West L.A. Engine Rebuilding, Inc. to determine if rebuildable. If any part of core (block, crank, cam or heads) is not rebuildable, there will be a charge deducted from core refund. Customer is responsible for arranging pick-up of core by transportation company of choice and for payment of all shipping charges to return core. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RETURN/REFUND POLICY No returns or refund on Special Order items. (exchanges accepted only if product suitability is incorrect for application according to order). No returns or exchanges after 30 days from date of delivery. All returns and exchanges must be authorized by West L.A. Engine Rebuilding, Inc. Returns, shipments made without prior authorization from West L.A. Engine Rebuilding, Inc. will be refused. Warranty claims must be reported directly to West L.A. Engine Rebuilding, Inc. and will be handled according to the terms of our warranty policy. Our liability is limited to the repair or replacement of the product. It does not allow for a refund. No reimbursement for warranty repair work performed at outside repair facilities without written permission from West L.A. Engine Rebuilding, Inc.
